Emfarsis was fortunate to be accompanying a valued client as their representative at an Australian Trade Mission to the Taiwan for the Taipei FinTech week in November of 2019.
Eliza Chui, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner at Austrade Taipei hosted 40 senior Taiwanese banking executives as well as Ko-Yang Wang the Founding Chairman of the Taiwan FinTech Association, an influential leader in Taiwan.
Scott Farrell (King & Wood Mallesons) co-chair of the Australian Government’s FinTech Advisory Group with Senator Jane Hume (check), presented an update on OpenBanking and Cryptocurrency in Australia. The Taiwanese institutions were very interested in the practical implications of open banking and how Australia was tackling those.
5 Australian Startups showcased their solutions to the banking elite from Taiwan: Daisee, Entersoft Security, Omni Financial, Quantium and Red Piranha, all of whom were very well received.

As part of the trade mission, Paul Kang signed a memorandum of understanding between FinTech Australia and Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry to see both organisations leverage shared knowledge to capitalise on the burgeoning space.
